Team Read recently welcomed five new members to our Board of Directors: Charles Fleming, Sharon Griggins and Laura King. We now also have two ex-officio members, Cathy Thompson from Highline Public Schools and Kathleen Vasquez from Seattle Public Schools, who were brought on to represent the two districts where Team Read operates. We also said goodbye to our Board President, Tran Huynh, who accepted an exciting new job in New York City. Tran’s position was filled by Brandon Hull, who had been serving as Vice President.

I am humbled and excited to partner with Maureen in leading an amazing group of individuals who care deeply about our mission to help all children achieve reading success, and who are dedicated to growing and supporting our work.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank my predecessor, Tran Meyer for her valued contributions to Team Read both as a reading coach and as a Board Member.  Tran was extremely passionate about the work of Team Read and embraced each of her roles wholeheartedly. During her tenure on the Board, she evangelized our mission and cultivated many new relationships. I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with and learn from her and am excited to continue the great work she started.

Team Read is a unique program that impacts its teen volunteers as much as its 2nd and 3rd grade participants, and I look forward to helping grow its impact across our region.

-Brandon Hull, Team Read Board President
