Following the successful launch of our pilot program at Hazel Valley Elementary last fall, we are thrilled to announce that Highline Team Read is expanding! This year we will be welcoming Midway Elementary and Mt. Rainier High School to Highline Team Read. Midway will have a Tuesday/Thursday program, serving up to 35 second and third grade struggling readers. The teen coaches will be recruited from Mt. Rainier High School. We look forward to working with Kyle Linman, Mt. Rainier High School’s principal and Midway Principal, Debbie Ellis.

We had an amazing first year in Highline, led by principal Casey Jeannot and Site Coordinator Kylen Boddie. The after school program served 43 second and third grade readers, supported by 34 teen reading coaches, with an average of 53 hours of one-on-one reading assistance per student. Dr. Cathy Thompson, Chief Curriculum & Instruction Officer for Highline Public Schools, facilitated the budget planning and development to support these schools and their students. We also want to thank the Norman Raab Foundation for funding technology for Hazel Valley and additional technology for the expansion of Team Read to Midway.
