When we became an SVP grantee, we had no idea that this would lead us back to Dr. Judy Margrath. We first met Judy in 2001 when she visited Team Read in her role as a Seattle Public Schools administrator. She loved the program model, but shortly after visiting Team Read, she left Seattle to pursue other opportunities. In our first year as grantee in 2012, Judy connected with SVP and asked about volunteer opportunities. When she learned that Team Read was a new grantee, she volunteered as a member of our strategic growth task force.
We are so glad that she did, because our Executive Director Maureen Massey soon realized that Judy was exactly the leader that Team Read the non-profit needed as we launched into our 5-year strategic growth plan.
Judy brings her experience in education as a reading teacher, principal and superintendent as well as her background in non-profit administration; along with her love of kids, reading and education, her vision, commitment, and remarkable energy to her work as Team Read’s Director of Organizational Expansion. Maureen says that she is “extremely thankful every day that Judy is helping drive Team Read’s growth as a non-profit. Judy is that rare combination of wisdom, practical experience, relentless follow through, and fun!”
