We love it when former student readers return to the program as teenagers to be reading coaches! Ming Ming’s wonderful essay when she applied to work for Team Read this fall, captures the essence of Team Read and why the program has been so successful for 20 years.

I would like to be a tutor for Team Read because I was in Team Read when I was younger. I didn’t understand much English back then and Team Read really helped me catch up a lot on my reading. I really enjoyed my time with my tutor during Team Read. He would explain things to me when I didn’t understand. I think that Team Read is very helpful for students. They can ask questions and share their ideas with their tutor. It was really helpful for me to have someone to share my ideas with. Team Read made learning way easier than I thought it would be. I’m really thankful to Team Read because English used to be a lot of pressure for me. I was really excited when I found out that I could be a part of Team Read once again. I want to learn with younger students together and listen to their ideas. I want to share what I know with them. I want to improve together with them.
