It’s been 25 years since Team Read started its innovative tutoring program in Seattle Public Schools. Since then, we’ve grown to reach more students, schools, and districts, experienced countless successes, and overcome challenges we never could have seen coming. Things have changed significantly for Team Read since our beginning, especially in the last few years. We’ve adapted to changing school schedules and remote learning, and we’re once again providing in-person tutoring sessions at several program sites. At the same time, we’re continuing to make use of technology and supporting students through online programming. Throughout everything, what hasn’t changed is our commitment to propelling young students to become inspired, joyful readers and teens to become impactful leaders, ready to succeed in school and life, building stronger communities for all.

Throughout this spring, we’ll be celebrating our 25 years of service, and we hope you’ll join us. After all, we know we would never have reached this milestone year without the love and support of our community of donors, volunteers, educators, readers, tutors, and more.

Here are some fun and easy ways to help us celebrate 25 years of Team Read:

  • Become a monthly donor! By setting up a monthly donation you’ll help keep our Powerful Pairs reading all year long. Your funds will be pooled with others to ensure that program sites have books and supplies, and that tutors are getting top-notch training.
  • Attend our 25th Anniversary Celebration! On April 27, we’ll gather for an evening of fun and fundraising to support Team Read. Stay tuned for details; it’s a party you won’t want to miss!
  • Spread the Word! Forward our newsletters to friends and family, and make sure everyone in your network knows about the great work Team Read is doing in Seattle and South King County. If you’re interested in having Team Read present at your work place or civic group, please reach out to us at development@teamread.org
  • Share a memory! Were you a Team Read tutor? Did you attend a Team Read event that was especially memorable? We want to hear about it! Send your stories to development@teamread.org
